ABOUT
HORSE & HOUND MARKETING
Horse & Hound Marketing was formed out of a life-long love for horses and a broad scope of creative passions.
Our
Story

"I've collaborated with companies in the St. Louis metro area and across the country to amplify their brand through on-site, digital, and print engagement, and understand the specific challenges the horse industry presents to business owners.
Horse & Hound Marketing was created to allow me the flexibility to work within the equestrian niche. I can't wait to help you reach your audience!"
Hannah Stater Jensen, owner and marketing specialist, began riding horses at the age of five after many failed dance classes. She was always meant for boots and a saddle, not tap shoes and a tutu. She rode in the western discipline through early high school, taking weekly lessons and going on trail rides through the woods of southeastern Iowa. She even owned her own rotund pinto mare, Maggie, for a few years before stepping away from riding to focus on academics and extracurriculars, including music and theater.
She began her undergraduate career at Iowa State University, studying animal science, biology, anthropology, design, and theater. She is an alumnus of Pi Beta Phi and almost joined the ISU intercollegiate Equestrian (Hunt) Team, but life had other plans. Hannah transferred to the University of Northern Iowa, where she became the Director of Marketing for UNI Dance Marathon, raising funds for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital. She was also the social media and education intern at the Blank Park Zoo and producer for Around the Corner Productions' ESPN broadcasts of UNI athletics before graduating with a double Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Interactive Digital Studies, with focuses in music technology and digital writing.
After two years of living in St. Louis and getting married in Colorado, Hannah's Aussie husband, Carter, encouraged her to return to riding after over ten years off. In October 2023, she finally got back into the saddle in the hunter discipline. Now, she lessons twice a week and spends as much time at the barn as possible. Even though Carter had no idea what he had unleashed, he continues to evolve into an exceptional horse husband.
Hannah's love of horses turned into a passion for wildlife conservation, leading to the completion of a Master of Arts in biology from Miami University in collaboration with Project Dragonfly and the Denver Zoological Foundation. Through her program, she focused on fostering a conservation ethos in adults through nature-based experiences, studying animal behavior, field research, human-wildlife conflict, education, leadership, and social change. Today, she continues to advocate for wildlife policy, with special interest in North American rangeland species, including wild horses, and marine mammals.
Professionally, Hannah has spent over four years at the Saint Louis Zoo as the Partnership Marketing Coordinator, helping connect local and national companies to the Zoo's audience and mission. She also helps plan and execute the Zoo's annual fundraising gala, ZOOFARI, hosts donor tours, oversees the young professionals advisory board, and manages the hotel partnership program. Prior to the Zoo, she led the podcasting and web development efforts at Cambridge Investment Research.
Outside of work and riding, Hannah loves spending time with her husband, Carter, and basset hound, Winnie. She loves hiking in state and national parks, traveling abroad, photographing nature, visiting AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums, reading fantasy, and watching Carter in his athletic endeavors.
